James Alexander Plastic Ampoules
Provide Glass-Free Delivery System
for New Medical Liquid Adhesive and Remover
BLAIRSTOWN, NJ – When JSJ Pharmaceuticals of
Doylestown, PA developed its new G.Mastic liquid adhesive and Dis.Adhere
adhesive remover products for medical professionals, the company
faced a challenge as it sought a delivery system that would offer
a number of distinct advantages over other products currently in
the market, including:
Single-handed,
user-friendly package activation
A uniform package configuration
available in various sizes to allow for flexible dosing
Glass-free package to enhance
user safety
A unique delivery system that
allows for product application in hard to reach places
A latex--free package
The ability to sterilize both
the contents and the outer package.
According to Jonathan Alba, Vice President of JSJ
Pharmaceuticals, “we knew we had two products with a number
of innovative features. Our G.Mastic liquid adhesive is non-staining,
which makes it ideal for applications on and around the face. In
addition, since the product is not water soluble, it is perfect
for use with diaphoretic patients or those with oily skin. The Dis.Adhere
adhesive remover contains no acetone or other harsh chemicals that
can irritate a patient’s fragile, already compromised skin.
Our challenge was to identify a delivery system that will allow
our customers to gain full advantage of these great features.”
Francesca Fazzolari, President of James Alexander,
said that “our Plastic
Ampoule package was a perfect fit for
JSJ’s application. The Plastic Ampoule allows the user to
activate the package with a gentle squeeze of one hand, rupturing
the patented internal membrane. Another gentle squeeze then dispenses
the contents onto the applicator tip. The rate and flow of the liquid
is easily controlled by the user. The absence of glass is also a
real advantage in today’s clinical settings, which was the
principal reason why we developed the Plastic Ampoule.” Since
the package does not contain a sealed glass ampoule, Fazzolari went
on to explain, JSJ is able to sterilize not only the outer package,
but also the formulations themselves. JAC’s Plastic Ampoule
is available in latex-free polyethylene or polypropylene swab and
dropper tip versions.
Pharmaceutical’s G.Mastic product is available
in both the standard 0.66 ml and a 1.33 ml size to provide dosing
options for the user. The large size Plastic
Ampoule reduces the
need to open multiple packages for a single procedure, thereby
reducing the cost per application.
